I had a dream one night this month and it was very strange indeed.
I was not my usual self in the dream. At least, not as I usually view myself in day to day life. I was wild and ferocious. Now, mind you, my husband might say he’s seen this side of me all along.
In the dream, I was working on a creative project and I wasn’t taking any "crap" from anyone around me. I was yelling at the top of my lungs telling people off if they tried to interfere or distract me. I was also stark naked without a care for what anyone else thought about that. I was ferocious about preserving my creative space at all costs.
I must say it was a dream where I felt totally free and uninhibited.
After I awoke from that dream I stumbled across a mythological archetype character called Baba Yaga. You may remember her mentioned in writings by Clarissa Pinkola Estes who dove deep into this Slavic archetypal crone. She is described as "woman who has lost her pelt", the soul skin, and acts as a catalyst for self-reflection, forcing women to confront their own shadows and reclaim their primal power to navigate life's challenges and find inner wisdom.
So this Baba Yaga revealed herself to me in the dream quite strongly and rather than be frightened or shocked by her, I recognized her as me, and I welcome her to a more conscious place in my life as I enter the latter years of life.
A reflective time
As I write, we close another linear year in human time. It seems a time of reflection and celebration of all that has transpired in one’s life. The challenges and the delights and insights.
Having a pause at this time of year to reflect upon what supports you in being more true to who you are. And to LOVE every bit of who this character of you is, through which life source energy plays out as an individualized expression of source energy or, as I like to call it, love. Love is always at the center.
No regrets, shame, apologies. In the universe's perspective, all is as it is with no mistake.
If you feel like it, it's a good time to review the threads in your life and what continues to light you up, and what needs to be shed once and for all. We are always a tapestry in progress.
New threads come, and old threads dissolve
Write out the challenges you’ve had this year.
Reflect on how you responded to them, and what happened, how things unfolded.
Write out your delights and insights.
Will this energy carry you forward, or not?
My year’s vow to myself for 2025 was to devote and prioritize my creativity and art-making. I’m celebrating that it was a year of that whilst I put my coaching and being a member of FB groups on hold. I remained in 2 FB groups only.
TRUST IN LIFE'S TWISTS AND TURNS
I attended a Ceramics glaze workshop in Ubud that was a highlight of my year. I wouldn’t have been there had my usual yearly Bali women’s retreat taken place but life took that away. I remember being so upset initially by the misunderstanding with the venue I use every year of not giving me my usual dates in August for my retreats.
I laugh now with delight that what seemed an upset and misfortune for me was all orchestrated to actually help me with my intentional vow about focusing on my creativity.. It also reminds me to trust what unfolds because in those moments we often don’t know what life has planned for us. And source energy being love, we can let go of fears and be more open. This is my big takeaway from the year that was … 2025.
THANK YOU for being in my sphere.
I appreciate you.
with love & gratitude,
