It’s Spring / Summer here in the southern hemisphere and it seems everything is awakening. AND shedding. I found a small snake skin in my garden. It was a reminder of how when the skin no longer fits, it sheds.
I feel like I am shedding too.
Not my skin, thankfully, but definitely ways of working which include beliefs that have served me well in the past but no longer “fit”.
I didn’t actually realize I was shedding though. All I felt was uncomfortable doing the things I used to do. I also felt that everytime I had a thought to do something like I had been doing in the past, a heaviness took over my body and I simply couldn’t find the energy to do it. I wonder if the snake feels the discomfort of being in a skin that no longer fits, without knowing it’s about to shed this skin and thus become renewed.
Surrender
I surrendered to the discomfort of not knowing and not able to describe what I felt to myself or anyone else.
I also desired clarity as to what was going on but I had to surrender to the liminal space of not knowing and accept I’d crossed some kind of threshold but had blindfolds on that would be removed when I was ready.
Fortuitous invitation
Then I shared on a private social media group about feeling at a standstill and this share received a lot of support. One of which was an invitation to have a session to get clear on which way to go at this moment in time.
It was a remarkable and fortuitous offer. There were two directions and I was at a crossroads.
One to create something new that was based on the old ways of doing things, or to let go, be at a standstill and SHED.
This apparent choice wasn’t made by a mental decision by any means. I was asking directly of my soul, which speaks through the body with feelings of knowing and intuitive intelligence. And the answer was so clear. SHED baby SHED.
I’m simply amazed at the timing of this generous offer and the clarity it brought to me. If you’re interested in a ‘crossroads’ session you can look HERE for information about Judi's sessions (with her permission).
As I continue this shedding process, I started to see the deep wisdom of my soul in what I perceive to be a standstill. The feeling of shedding that’s thus far over the past year translated as no longer teaching weekly yoga classes, putting my 1:1 coaching on hold, not creating any new Insight Timer courses and meditations right now.
The only things I’m getting a “yes” to is creating art, and facilitating my once a year women’s retreats.
That’s it.
For now anyhow.
Who knows what will unfold as the shedding continues.
Listen to your soul guidance
I have no doubt in trusting my soul’s guidance. I bow to my soul and listen. It requires quiet, listening, and knowing the difference between the voice of the mind (ego) and the voice (or feeling) of the soul.
Maybe, like the snake, I’ve unwittingly shed a skin and the discomfort is no longer there as I follow my heart and soul and let the rest rest.
For now.
And now is all there is.
May you also deepen your connection of listening to and following the directions of your soul.
